What is the Cultural Awareness Foundation?
The Cultural Awareness Foundation (CAF) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization head-quartered at the Bahia Brazil Arts Center in Portland, Oregon. Our purpose is to share Brazilian culture with Portland, Oregon through music, movement, and art.
How does the CAF share Brazilian Culture with Portland?
The Cultural Awareness Foundation (CAF) achieves its purposes by conducting classes, workshops, camps, events and performances in Capoeira Regional, Maculele, Samba, Batucada and a multitude of other Afro-Brazilian folkloric arts. The CAF also facilitates immersion trips that physically bring Americans to Brazil for a full artistic, linguistic, and cultural experience.
What is the history of the CAF?
The CAF was incorporated on September 16, 2004. It received its tax exempt status on November 10, 2004. The CAF is supported 100% by donations, grants, sponsorships, and volunteers and the CAF cannot exist without these avenues of assistance.
